Artist Statement

In my paintings I work from memories with the intention to capture a precise visual and sensational event with the emotional qualities that come with it. As emotional beings of observation I find visual experiences in life can heavily influence us, fuelling our feelings and broadening our perspectives of the presence of life that lives within the visual. The challenge of trying to paint these intense visual images is one I’m trying to tackle in my practice, the paintings are attempting to capture more than a visual recording or fleeting moment but encapsulate the culmination of all the human senses or experience throughout the duration of executing the work. The thrust is that the viewer creates a profound human connection through experiencing my paintings, as they try to resonate with honesty and substance.
